Today is a national holiday in Japan. The holiday is called “Coming-of-Age Day (成人の日)”. The holiday is for celebrating the young people who are 20 years old this year. To celebrate the new adults, each local government will hold a special ceremony for new adults.

Most young Japanese will leave their hometown to enter college or find employment at the age of 18 and come back to their hometown to attend the ceremony. Therefore, the ceremony is like an Alumni association for the new adults and they will dress up in traditional costumes very brilliantly for the ceremony.

On the day of the holiday, you can see new adults dressed in traditional costumes all over Japan. If you have the chance, please enjoy your Travel to Japan on the day!
